UNDERSTAND THE COMPLEX DESIGN OF THE NOSEBAND
A MULTI-LAYER CONSTRUCTED NOSEBAND
A COMPLEX AND TIME-CONSUMING DESIGN
The noseband is constructed in several distinct layers – a stable outer layer of firm leather, a semi-rigid intermediate layer to stabilize the shape, and an inner material (padding) that lies closest to the horse.
The stitching visible on the outside is purely decorative and does not pass through the padding. It therefore has no load-bearing function, and it is completely normal to see a small space or gap between the layers. There is no seam that can come loose – on the contrary, this space is essential to the noseband’s function.
Our design is world-leading, and to date no other bridle manufacturer has succeeded in protecting the horse’s cheek in the same way as The Equemist.
This is a deliberate part of the design – not a defect.
With hindsight, the mistake we made as a manufacturer was choosing to glue this area out of consideration, as we were concerned customers might believe the noseband was damaged. What may now occur instead is that the adhesive begins to release slightly after use, as there is always movement in the horse’s mouth – particularly in horses that chew actively on the bit.
Our nosebands are designed to move with the horse, which means that neither the function nor the construction of the noseband is in any way faulty.
With hindsight, we should have left the gap visible from the start, and we have already changed this in production going forward, so there will be a clear gap in later deliveries – just as it was intended from the start.
If you find that the glue on your nose strap has started to come loose, you are of course welcome to send it back to us. We will be happy to help you remove the glue residue – or re-glue it if you prefer. The function of the nose strap and the nose strap itself are therefore not faulty or broken.
