UNDERSTANDING THE COMPLEX DESIGN OF THE NOSEBAND

A NOSEBAND MADE IN SEVERAL LAYERS

A COMPLICATED AND TIME-CONSUMING DESIGN

The noseband is constructed in several layers - a sturdy outer layer of hard leather, a semi-hard middle layer to stabilise the shape, and an inner material (padding) closest to the horse.

The seams you see on the outside are decorative and do not go through the padding. They do not have a load-bearing function, and it is normal to see a gap or a small gap between the layers.

Our design is world leading, and to date no other bridle manufacturer has managed to protect the horse's cheek in the same way as The Equemist.

This is part of the design - not a fault.

It's easy to be complacent, but the mistake we made as a manufacturer was that we chose to glue this area - out of consideration, as we were afraid our customers would think the noseband was broken. What can now happen instead is that the glue comes off slightly after use, as there is always movement in the horse's mouth - especially in horses that chew a lot on the bit. Our nosebands are designed to follow the horse's movements, which means that neither the function nor the construction of the noseband is faulty.

With hindsight, we should have left the gap visible from the beginning and we have already changed it in production going forward, so it will be a clear gap in later deliveries - just as it was intended from the beginning.

If you feel that the glue on your nose clip has started to come off, you can of course send it to us. We'll be happy to help you remove the glue residue - or re-glue it if you prefer. The function of the noseband and the noseband itself is not incorrectly made or broken.
