ICELANDIC COLLECTION

FEATHER LIGHT DROPPED BRIDLE

Remont Bridle No. 20 is designed for Icelandic horses that require a stable, precise, and well-balanced headpiece when working in contact. The bridle is constructed to stay steady and consistent throughout the ride, even in gaits where balance, rhythm, and precision are put to the test.

The size and proportions are specifically tailored to the anatomy of the Icelandic horse, with a compact head shape and limited space in the neck area. The crownpiece is specially designed in terms of measurements, function, and shape to provide stability without adding unnecessary bulk. It allows freedom for the withers and the area around the atlas (C1), while TMJ pads lift the crownpiece off the sensitive jaw joint. The result is a crownpiece that remains still, distributes pressure evenly, and does not reinforce asymmetry.

The noseband conforms to the horse’s mouth without locking the bit or affecting the airways. Its angled design keeps the eye area free from buckles, reducing both visual and physical interference and contributing to a cleaner, more functional expression during work.

The browband has an exact and stable placement and cannot slide down or be pushed up during work. You can choose which browband is included when ordering and can easily switch between different models. Additional browbands are available separately.

BALANCED NECKPIECE FOR

EVEN CONTACT & PRECISE EFFECT

When the Icelandic horse takes contact with the bit, the force is transmitted up through the cheekpieces and further to the crownpiece. In sport and competition work, where contact, tempo, and precision are crucial, the placement of the crownpiece becomes decisive. If the crownpiece is not correctly positioned or can move sideways, uneven pressure occurs, with one side taking more pull than the other.

This is common when the crownpiece is overly padded, lacks structure, or when a crownpiece is completely absent and loose straps or buckles lie directly on the neck or on one side of the horse’s head. The result is either a constant asymmetrical load on the neck or a strong point pressure centered over the atlas (C1), which quickly affects the Icelandic horse’s balance and its ability to work through its body.

A still, light, and balanced crownpiece, on the other hand, allows the force from the bit to be transmitted symmetrically. The effect of the bit is then felt more equally on the right and left sides, while the bridle stays stable where it should. For the Icelandic horse, this provides better opportunities for straightness, even contact, and maintained balance, even in gaits that require high coordination, such as tölt.

HAVE YOU CONSIDERED THIS?
Ask yourself why buckles placed directly on the neck would be advantageous for a sport horse performing at a high level.

Feather Light by Design

FEATHER LIGHT BY DESIGN

For Icelandic horses in sport, where balance, rhythm, and precise aids are crucial, the weight and construction of the bridle become directly influential factors.

Our bridles are feather-light to reduce the overall load on the neck by combining molded details with lightweight foam. The construction provides stability without adding unnecessary mass. The result is a bridle that stays in place, follows the horse’s movements, and does not create a constant downward pull on the neck.

Unlike bridles that place buckles directly over the atlas (C1), a light and balanced crownpiece distributes pressure over a larger area. Buckles and metal components concentrated on C1 create point pressure and also add dead weight exactly where the horse is biomechanically most sensitive.

You want to minimize weight and remove point pressure on the neck because of:

  • increased muscle tension
  • harder to maintain balance
  • decreased precision in contact

When weight is minimized and the construction instead provides stability, the horse has better conditions to work with maintained balance, even contact, and precise effect.

It’s not about removing the crownpiece, but about making it properly constructed, light, and stable. That is where true function arises.

FREE TMJ, CLEARER SIGNALS

The remont noseband is designed for Icelandic horses that require free jaw function (TMJ) and consistent contact during work. The construction does not lock the bit or create any upward pull that lifts the bit in the corners of the mouth, providing a stable and predictable effect even when maintaining contact.

By allowing the necessary micro-movements in the jaw joint, tension is reduced, giving the horse better conditions for relaxation and balance.

The design of the noseband also ensures that the straps do not sit too close to the horse’s eyes, reducing visual distractions and sensory load. The result is a noseband that supports the horse’s natural function, improves focus, and delivers clearer signals, without compromising stability or precision.
